Sofie
The tail of one of our Purple Cows--Sofie--starts in a small pub by the name of "Gasthaus zum Adler," in Weisweil, Germany.
In 1935, Mrs. Sofie Landwehr (pictured) was taking care of a small calf that had broken one leg. The local veterinarian wanted to butcher the calf, but Sofie argued, stating, "You wouldn't be butchered if you had a broken leg--or?" She waslked away from the vet and proceeded to splint the leg of the calf. A shirt time after, the calf's injured leg was healed.
The calf was very grateful to Sofie and returned the favor with lifetime loyalty and devotion. Even when the calf was grown, she follwed Sofie everywhere--including into the house!
Today Sofie is one of our Purple Cows trio, (Sofie, Sadie, and Bessie). She spends all her time creating great products for preserving memories like this one!
MOOOO!
